A surprisingly eventful day for me.
First up, Singaporeans and this word "choice". I was at Paragon M1 last afternoon, plugged in to my iPod. Whilst looking at a display card, I was given a shock by a shout next to me. Remember that I'm plugged in. Let's call him Nutty. Nutty pulled a M1 female staff and wanted her to explain about the $120 rebate that M1 is now offering. She had barely gotten her first sentence out when Nutty shouted at her again. The lady politely told him that it's no use shouting at her. He continued on his verbal rampage all the same, screaming that he had chosen to come to M1 during an off-peak time and yet he had to wait 30min before his waiting ticket number was called. The lady once again politely asked if he was an existing M1 member, he replied at high volume once again that he has been with M1 since Day One of using his handphone. He was told that existing customers who have completed 20 months of their contract are entitled to the rebate. An outburst of "How can you treat your existing customers like that??!!" came out. He next shouted where on the display card did they state that you had to have completed 20 months of contract. I felt so sorry for the lady and so pissed with the guy that I pointed at the part that they stated he obvious answer and tapped my finger. Then I walked away.
The stupid Nutty proceeded to query and scold the lady for the next 30-40min. THE LADY IS ONLY THE CASHIER!!! Nutty kept shouting that he was giving her a feedback to feedback to the company. Why did he not shout all that he wanted at the customer service officer that had attended to him earlier on after his 30min wait?? He apparently did not understand what the customer service officer had told him about the rebate. Why shout at a poor cashier who is technically not trained to handle your complains??!!
I FELT LIKE SLAPPING THE GUY SILLY!!! Speak good English, big fuck ah?? So what if you've been with M1 since Day One of your using a handphone? So what if M1 treats their existing customers the way they do? Basic point is: IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH M1, YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO CHANGE YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER!!! What's his problem??? And, he said he chose to go down during off-peak time. Don't be stupid!! The place is Orchard Road, the day is eve of National Day where I'm sure a good many have applied leave for a long weekend. And which stupid company keeps full staff strength during off-peak hours?? WAKE UP!! He makes it sound like he's the only important customer of M1's!! Arggghhh!!
Next incident. Had dinner at Joaquim at Suntec Convention Centre. Found a dead housefly among my food halfway through. Called for the manager who though he apologised, told me accidents do happen. He said the restaurant has in place sensors to detect the houseflies and kill them. However, accidents happen and they do get among the food. So does that mean it's alright for me to find a dead housefly among my food? It's alright even if I consume it? Just because ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN?? What kind of fucked-up service it that? Sent in complaint online earlier on. They had better get back to me with a satisfactory answer. Totally spoiled my dinner after that.
On a brighter note, Marina Square is almost fully operational. Not that much to shop but loads of restaurants and eateries. The Japanese restaurant at Starhub Centre, Waraku, have opened a branch at MS. Shall try it sometime soon. Plus, I think the manager that was working at Genki Sushi Tampines Mall has now changed to Sakae Sushi.
Quite an ok day actually, but these irritating events. That's not how I wanna spice up my life...
